Remember when Juan Cruz was supposed to be the next big-time pitcher? Well, he's fallen far short of that so far and he's mainly been a bullpen guy in his 6 seasons. After not starting a game in '04 and '05, Cruz has split time between the 'pen and the rotation this year. Today will be his 9th start of the season since moving into the rotation on April 29th. In his last start (July 3rd) he lasted only 3 innings. He'll definitely be looking to do a bit better this time out.
Hopefully the bullpen won't blow a lead for Cook today. It would be nice if the offense also shows up earlier in the game.
The Futures Game should be more exciting than this one, unless there's a repeat of yesterday's ninth in the Rockies game.
