Bio: If you don't remember Frazier as the Rockies' 37th round draft pick in 2004 (MLB.com scouting report and [working] video), maybe you remember him as the hero of the 1998 Little League World Series championship team from Toms River, NJ. This Frazier followed in the footsteps of his older brother Jeff and went Rutgers instead of pro ball out of high school. Jeff went in the 3rd round of the 2004 draft to the Tigers. The two have an older brother, Charles, who signed out of high school with the Marlins as 6th round pick in 1999. He hasn't played in the minors since 2004. Both Charles and Jeff play the outfield. Jeff's future may include a change of position once he is drafted.
He was named the 2007 Pre-season Big East Player of the Year back in January. As the article mentioned he was the first player since Bobby Brownlie in 2001 and 2002 to be named either pre-season player or pitcher of the year. Brownlie, entering the 2002 draft, was the top prospect until he developed some injury problems and fell to the 20's when the Cubs drafted him. He has yet to reach the Majors.
Here's what Patrick Ebert of Brewerfan.net and PG Crosschecker wrote about him entering the 2004 draft:
Here is what he wrote about Frazier for the 2007 draft:
He also played with Team USA during the 2006 summer when the team won the gold medal at the FISU Games. He actually played right field for the majority of games and he'll probably move there permanently after being drafted.
Baseball America currently projects Todd Frazier as the 27th player taken in the first round in their pre-season draft issue.
