Scouting Report / Bio: Speed is the essence of Wimberly's game. Wimberly is a slap hitter and an excellent bunter. He is the fastest player in the organization and has stolen 86 bases in 154 career games. Despite his impressive range, he's below average defensively at 2nd base and is currently working on improving his glove-work and throwing motion. He dealt with a hamstring injury in May of 2006 which shortened his season and hindered his base-running abilities. Wimberly has also played some third-base and centerfield over the last two seasons and could end up as a utility player similar to former Rockies farmhand Chone Figgins.
Future Outlook: Starting 2nd baseman or super-utility player at higher levels.
