Game #96: Aaron Cook vs. Billy Traber

The Tom Martin-less era starts tonight! That surely has to get you excited for this contest. Anyway, three games left in this series, and the Rockies really need to take all three before returning home for seven games against NL West opponents. This is Washington, guys; you should easily take three of four this series.

Before coming down with elbow tendinitis, Jason Simontacchi was scheduled to start. In Simontacchi's place, Billy Traber, he of 23 relief appearances, makes his first start of the season. A pitcher with little experience against the Rockies is being asked to go five, six innings. That should equal a big night for the Rockies, but . . .

Cook, meanwhile, is coming off a good start (6 IP, 2 ER), only to witness Jeremy Affeldt allow a Kevin Mench triple to drive in the winning run.

Go Rockies!
