The Springs, L 4-6: There wasn't much of anything going on with the Sky Sox last night. Of the seven hits recorded, only one was for extra bases, and Jayson Nix drove in two. Josh Newman loaded the bases in the seventh without recording an out, and then saw Ramon Ramirez allow all three batters to cross home plate.
Tulsa, W 6-0: Sean Thompson went the distance in this game, allowed seven hits, and struck out three. Matt Miller drove in three runs, two on a triple. Corey Wimberly swiped his 29th base.
Modesto, W 7-3: In his last five starts after last night's game, Chaz Roe has strung together four good outings (in the fifth one, he left early due to injury). In six innings, he allowed three runs (one earned) and struck out four. EY Jr., Chris Nelson, and Justin Nelson at the top of the order all had an RBI, and Cole Garner, Jason Van Kooten, and Travis Becktel at the bottom of the order each drove in a run. Young also added his 66th stolen base.
Asheville, L 7-16: Victor Ferrante (16) and Bret Berglund (6) both had two-run homers, while Jay Cox (6) and Geoff Strickland (7) had triples. The Tourists had five pitchers appear last night and every one of them allowed at least a run. Simon Ferrer made the start and allowed six runs, five on two home runs. Josh Sullivan, Andrew Kreidermacher, and Tommy Baumgardner allowed two, three, and four runs in their appearances.
Tri-City, L 3-5: Connor Graham made his first pro start. In three innings of work, he allowed no runs, walked three, and struck out three. Joey Williamson, back from a brief stay with Casper, struck out five in three innings, but Craig Rodriguez and Agustin Arias collapsed late in the game when the Dust Devils hada 3-0 lead. Brian Rike and Darin Holcomb each drove in a run.
Casper, L 3-15: Parker Frazier was knocked around for seven runs in 2 2/3 innings after having a good start in his previous outing.
