Seriously, my day has just been utterly absorbed by Swann's Way and I'm really not sure if I'm any better off for reading Proust. People said I'd be better off for reading Proust, but all I feel I have to show for it is about as much as I have to show for those days I spent last week watching America's Next Top Model reruns on YouTube. I wish there was some sort of money back guarantee for cultural endeavors. One where you actually get money back if stuff wasn't satisfactory, even if you didn't really pay money in the first place.
People said I'd be better off for reading Proust, I'm not, not yet at any rate, I've still got a long way to go, but I'm already thinking of the big payback I'll have coming from these people -the people who said I'd be better off for reading Proust- if Proust doesn't actually get better going forward.
