Corner pocket: Helton, Colonel, Spilborghs and Atkins make Mariners go bust in Vegas

Rockies 6, Mariners 3

Todd Helton continued to show his back is healthy by belting out three more hits in three plate appearances before being replaced by pinch runner Christian Colonel after a fourth inning RBI double. Colonel stayed on and continued the perfect night for Rockies first basemen, collecting two more hits. Garrett Atkins went two for three and Ryan Spilborghs hit a first inning solo homerun and added an RBI groundout as part of the three run fourth for the Rockies.

Starter Franklin Morales pitched an effective five innings in high winds and chilly temperatures, limiting the Mariners to seven hits and two walks and four Rockies relievers, Jason Grilli, Glendon Rusch, Huston Street and Damian Moss continued what's now a 9 1/3 inning scoreless streak with four solid innings pitched after Morales left.

THE BIG QUESTION: Will Morales continue his roll next Wednesday in Arizona?

The smaller question: Can I go to bed now?

Wrap Rating: Maybe Mariner Endy Chavez could have used one of these to help him in the wind tonight.
