We're going for ten in a row, and Purple Row will be there in full force, likely in the upper deck behind home plate.
We haven't won ten straight games since...well, you know...Our chances of pulling out number ten just got a lot better. As nkrause first scooped, Erik Bedard will be missing his start today with inflammation in his pitching shoulder. I'm a little bummed not to get to see the talented lefty, but it improves our chances to pull out a win.
Instead they'll go with Opening Day closer and 2006 5th overall pick Brandon Morrow. He has 16 relief appearances this year and no starts, so will be held to a pitch count of 60. Work those counts early, boys!
Jason Marquis is back to being tied, with three other, for the NL wins lead. He can take the lead today and tie Kevin Slowey for 2nd most in the majors with a win today.
vs.
Oh...and in case you have the guilty pleasure of watching the Wild Card standings, we would need the Cardinals, Mets and Giants all to lose with a Rockies win to gain a game in the standings. Also interesting - we've only gained 2 games on the Giants in the last ten games.
That's it. Rox Girl will be running the game discussion as I'll be at the game.
