With the Rockies' 11-9 win last night, coupled with a loss by San Francisco (and LA to boot), Colorado finds itself a mere game back in the wild card standings.

The Rockies look to complete the sweep of the Oakland Hollidays by sending out the red-hot, franchise-winningest pitcher Aaron Cook (7-3, 4.00) against 22 year-old Vin Mazzaro (2-2, 2.56). In the last month Cook is 4-1 with a 2.65 ERA and 1.09 WHIP, finding his groove mostly on the road.

Mazzaro meanwhile has been no slouch either--having his first five MLB starts this month, he's more than held his own. He sports a 2.97 FIP, so the ERA isn't too much of a mirage, though his BABIP is .265, which should receive a course correction soon. Here's Dave Cameron on Mazzaro.
