Psst. Psst. Yeah, you. I want to tell you something. The Rockies--they have some hitters. Good hitters. What? Rob Dibble says the Rockies only have Helton, and I guess the rest are cardboard cutouts? Well, he has all kinds of envy. Not even a good word after this stuff:
Dexter Fowler, 2-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 2B, SB (17 - club record for a rookie)
Todd Helton, 2-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Carlos Gonzalez, 3-for-5, 2 RBI, 1BB, 3B
Troy Tulowitzki, 3-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2-R HR
Ryan Spilborghs, 1-for-5, 3-R 3B
And All-Star Brad Hawpe didn't even play in this game.
Of course, they were hitting against Nationals pitchers, so we should have expected this.
Jorge De La Rosa provided effective pitching, allowing three runs in 6 1/3 innings. Josh Fogg (really, we hadn't seen him for the longest time) and Matt Daley provided all the relief the team needed to secure the victory.
