Saturday Pebble Report: Season ends for all teams

Modesto, L 1-6
Bruce Billings did his best to keep the Nuts in this game. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings and struck out 10. Joey Williamson entered in the sixth inning, recorded the final out, and then allowed three runs in the seventh.

The offense was held silent by Richard Bleier, who allowed a first-inning RBI single to Scott Beerer and no more runs after that. Jason Van Kooten had three hits.

Their season is over.

Asheville, L 2-3
Dan Houston turned in a good start with five strikeouts and two runs allowed in 6 2/3 innings (10-5 GO-FO). Rex Brothers, however, served up a gopher ball in the bottom of the ninth to lose the game.

Scott Robinson hit a double and drove in two runs. Thomas Field knocked out a triple and scored a run. This game also saw Kiel Roling and David Christensen steal second and third, respectively. Roling did not steal a base during the regular season.

Their season is over.

Casper, W 4-3
Casper battled its way back in this one, scoring three runs over the seventh and eighth innings to come back from a 1-3 deficit. Chad Jacobsen's double and Jose Rivera's sac fly in the seventh tied the game, and David Kandials's RBI single in the eighth put Casper ahead.

Nicholas Schnaitmann allowed the three runs (two earned) and struck out six over six innings. Trevor Gibson picked up the win, allowing Chad Rose to record his fifth save after pitching the final 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts.

Their season is over.
