Indians 5, Rockies 4; Francis struggles in second to last tune-up before regular season.

So the good news from a drab game seemed to be two hits and two walks from Melvin Mora as well as a three hit day from Jay Payton. The bad news was that for the second day in a row, the Rockies starting pitcher failed to get out of the fifth inning. This time it was Jeff Francis who did the struggling, allowing four runs in four and a third innings, giving up four hits and two walks. Franklin Morales also had a rough go, allowing the winning run to score after a balk and two hits in his one inning of work.

The lack of polish with the two left-handers is probably a bit concerning with so little time left before the start of the season, but even late in the Spring there doesn't seem to be much correlation with regular season results. The keys are really health, pitch strength and smooth mechanics, if the reports are positive on those fronts we probably shouldn't worry too much as fans.
