The sky is falling. The sky is falling. The sky is falling. The sky is falling.  The sky is falling. The sky is falling.  The sky is falling. The sky is falling.  The sky is falling. The sky is falling.  The sky is falling. The sky is falling.  The sky is falling. The sky is falling.  The sky is falling. The sky is falling.

Or something. Join me after the jump.

So the Rockies wound up 2-9 and losers of sixth straight. We learned the Rockies have a problem hitting with runners in scoring position, especially when there are two outs. The team could probably stand to make a deal or two, but not sell the farm or promote the farm and stop playing for this season.

We also learned that we like to have some petty bickering in the game threads over whether the sky is falling for this team. It could be. It's all right to be angry. Anger can be creative at times, as Elie Wiesel once said in a far different context. He also said (again, in a far different context), "Indifference, [. . .] is not only a sin, it is a punishment." We all care about the Rockies and how they perform. If we're indifferent about this team, what's the point of following them?

So, yes, be angry. But be prepared to defend your position. Attack the idea not the person--because this is Purple Row where things shouldn't be personal.

As for the game, Jason Hammel more or less did OK. He got tagged for all five runs (four earned), but the inability of this team to develop offense has been painful. Runs in the first and ninth inning are good, but those intervening, pesky seven innings got nothing.

A return home will be good for the Rockies.
