St. Louis Cardinals (45-37, 2 GB, 2nd NL Central, 0.5 GB Wild Card)
2009 Record Vs. Rockies: 1-6.
The Rockies really dominated this series last year. The Rockies played the first series on the road and won 11-4, 10-1, 7-2, and 5-2. This was during the beginning of June when the Rockies started that nice run a few games into Jim Tracy's tenure as manager. The two teams didn't meet again until the end of September, and it was a much closer series this time. The Rockies dropped the middle game of the series, but won close games in the other two (2-1, 4-3).
Last Two Series Results: 2-1 series victory over the D'Backs, 2-2 series split with Brewers.
The Cards mounted a comeback against the D'Backs in the first game of their series. Dan Haren allowed five runs and pitched into the ninth. Aaron Heilman entered the game and blew the lead and took the loss. The Cards took advantage of Dontrelle Willis the next night and not much else needs to be said about that.
The Brewers and Cards alternated losses during the weekend series. Tuesday's starter Blake Hawksworth took the loss on Thursday, allowing three runs in six innings. Jaime Garcia pitched seven scoreless innings the next night in what turned into a 5-0 Cards victory. Chris Carpenter was roughed up for eight runs in three innings on Saturday.
