Rockies 6, D-backs 5: Rockies Take Second Straight at Salt River

The Rockies and Diamondbacks fumbled their way through six errors and four wild pitches between them to complete their second official game together at Salt River Fields.

The Rockies got on the board early, touching the newly acquired starting pitcher Armando Galarraga for two runs in the first inning. Just like in Saturday's game, most of the offense came late, as Arizona relievers Esmerling Vasquez and Kam Mickolio allowed four runs in the 7th and 8th.

The offensive contributions were spread around, as several players produced runs, including Jonathan Herrera who stayed hot from Saturday with a triple and a walk. Other notable offense producers included Dexter Fowler, Willy Taveras, Hernan Iribarren, Charlie Blackmon and Tim Wheeler, as well catchers Jose Morales and Chad Moeller. Todd Helton saw his first game action of the Spring, sending a ball 400 feet to an outfield glove in his first at bat.

Jhoulys Chacin, the game's starting pitcher, and Esmil Rogers each produced two clean innings. Fellow starting candidate Eric Stults wasn't so lucky, allowing three runs on five hits in his pair of frames, though he struck out three opposing batters. Huston Street pitched the 5th, allowing one run and a wild pitch. Matt Belisle struck out two batters in his scoreless inning, while Keith Weiser closed out the game, allowing one run but picking up the save, sending the Rockies to their second victory of the Spring.
