The Rockies lost to the Cubs 8-3 on Saturday night, snapping a seven game win streak. While starter Jason Hammel took the loss, he wasn't the main culprit on the mound, pitching six innings and only giving up three runs, leaving with the Rockies down two. Instead, the goat of the game award probably goes to Felipe Paulino who gave up five runs in the seventh inning in a gas can effort.
Chris Iannetta hit his second home run of the season and drove in two runs, giving him five RBI in the last two games. He also walked once. Troy Tulowitzki collected two more hits as well, but overall, the Rockies didn't capitalize on an opportunity to beat up on an inexperienced and wild opposing starter, as Casey Coleman shut them down for nearly six innings despite walking three, plunking two. Alfonso Soriano proved a bane to Hammel hitting a home run and an RBI double to lead the Cubs offense before they broke open the floodgates against Paulino in the seventh.
The Rockies and Cubs will play the rubber match for the series tomorrow afternoon.
