Jake Westbrook was drafted in 1996 by the Rockies, 21st overall, and was traded to the Montreal Expos in exchange for Mike Lansing. Since then, Westbrook has put up a decent career for himself, pitching 5 full-ish seasons for the Cleveland Indians before being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. The Rockies were looking at Westbrook to help round out their rotation, but the Cardinals clearly wanted him more and signed Westbrook to a 2-year, $16.5M contract. Thus far, Westbrook's results have been unimpressive, but he's posted a sub-3 ERA over his past 6 starts.
Ubaldo Jimenez is looking to put the nasty beginning of 2011 behind him. While his punchout numbers are excellent, especially when you consider he's shy of a strikeout-per-inning guy, but his control has yet to resurface this season. Tough team to try and rebound against, but Ubaldo's a gamer, he'll git 'er done.

Colorado clearly wasted no time getting Eric Young Jr into the lineup, resting the struggling Dexter Fowler for a day. Fowler was dropped from the leadoff into the 2 hole for a couple of games, and then to the 8 hole yesterday, in hopes that a lineup shakeup would get some runs across the plate. Fowler's past 2 weeks have been pretty grim, to the pallor line of .189/.283/.283, but his last 7 days have been much more productive: .238/.360/.429. Not necessarily the kind of line we want to see, but it shows good BB skills and finally a burst of power. Perhaps a day off will get him back into the swing of things.
