This is a much more even pitching matchup than it might seem. Burnett has the ERA advantage, but Jimenez has the FIP advantage. Both pitchers are sitting right around a 2.00 K/BB, and despite the spike in Ubaldo's HR/9, he's still doing better than Burnett is in that regard - about an extra homer off of Burnett every 3 games. xFIP has them both sitting at roughly even, Ubaldo at a 3.80 xFIP and Burnett at a 3.83 xFIP. If you account for park effects and such, Ubaldo's been worth about half of a win more than Burnett this season.

The Rockies need to watch out for Nick Swisher, Alex Rodriguez, and Nick Swisher. Despite team numbers being down over the past week or so, these three have been hitting the cover off of the ball, all OPSing over 1.000 in the past 2 weeks. The Rockies counter with red-hot Ty Wigginton, Seth Smith, and Jason Giambi, who should all see a decent amount of playing time in this series, what with the DH and all. Downside: Wigginton fielding.

Lineups post-jump.

1. Carlos Gonzalez (L) CF
2. Chris Nelson (R) 2B
3. Todd Helton (L) 1B
4. Troy Tulowitzki (R) SS
5. Jason Giambi (L) DH
6. Seth Smith (L) RF
7. Ty Wigginton (R) 3B
8. Charlie Blackmon (L) LF
9. Chris Iannetta (R) C

Part of me wishes they'd bat Blackmon 9th - not in the sense of a demotion in the lineup, but more for the sake of speed around the horn? I don't know, it doesn't make much of a difference. Just a thought.

Yankees Lineup:

1. Brett Gardner (L) LF
2. Curtis Granderson (L) CF
3. Mark Teixeira (S) 1B
4. Alex Rodriguez (R) 3B
5. Robinson Cano (L) 2B
6. Nick Swisher (S) RF
7. Jorge Posada (S) DH
8. Russell Martin (R) C
9. Eduardo Nunez (R) SS

And Russell Martin thought he was safe from Ubaldo Jimenez in New York.
