AAA Colorado Springs - W 9-3  (25-30, 3rd, 8.0 GB)

Aaron Cook allowed 3 ER in 7 IP on five hits in his bonus rehab assignment.  Most important, Cook had a 14/1 groundout to air out ratio.  #25 PuRP Cole Garner (2003, 26th round) was 3-for-4 with a home run and two walks, while Ian Stewart went 2-for-4 with a home run, walk and error.  Oh, and #7 PuRP Charlie Blackmon (2008, 2nd round) had a couple hits, of course.

AA Tulsa  L 4-6 (12) (27-24, 1st)

#23 PuRP Ben Paulsen (2009, 3rd round) hit his 6th home run of the season in the eighth inning to tie the game, then tied the game with an RBI single in the tenth inning.  Daniel Turpen, acquired in March for Mike McKenry, allowed the run in the top of the tenth, then gave up two more in the 12th inning for the loss.  Darin Holcomb (2007, 12th round) rapped out three hits, while #2 PuRP Wilin Rosario (2008, DR FA) and #16 PuRP Tim Wheeler (2009, 1st round) were a combined 0-for-10.  Rob Scahill (2009, 8th round) allowed three runs in six innings for the no decision.

High-A Modesto W 6-4  (25-28, t-4th, 12.0 GB)

#4 PuRP Nolan Arenado (2009, 2nd round) continues to scorch the California earth, as he drove in two runs with three hits.  #30 PuRP Delta Cleary Jr. (2008, 37th round) also threw out three base knocks as the Nuts scored in five of their eight innings.  Josh Rutledge (2010, 3rd round) reached base four times and continues to build on a quietly strong season in Modesto after skipping Asheville.  Dan Perkins (2009, 27th round) allowed two runs in six innings.

Low-A Asheville W 4-3 (25-29, 4th, 4.5 GB)

23-year-old Edwar Cabrera has been very good this season for Asheville, but last night, he turned in his best start of the season.  Over seven innings, the lefty allowed just four baserunners - a solo home run, two singles and a hit batter.   He started the night leading all of minor league baseball with 85 strikeouts this season, then added 11 more to that total.  I was hoping a Tyler Matzek demotion could be paired with a Cabrera promotion, but such a move doesn't seem to be very likely yet.  Offensively, Chandler Laurent (2009, 21st round) hit a 2-run home run and #6 PuRP Kyle Parker (2010, 1st round) struck out three times.

DSL Rockies Postponed  (3-1, t-1st)

There would be no skirmish between the Diamondbacks and Rockies yesterday, as rain pushed the game away.  They will host the White Sox at 7:30am MDT.
