Game 58: Jason Hammel vs. Ryan Vogelsong

Shall today be the day that the Rockies finally win a rubber match of a three game series? It hasn't happened since early April against the Cubs -- and let's be honest, all this losing has gotten pretty old, right?

To do so, the Rockies will have to get past the man, the myth, the legend that is Ryan Vogelsong. Since getting picked up off the scrapheap, essentially, Vogelsong has been excellent in 2011 in his role of replacing Barry Zito, putting up a 3-1 record with a 1.77 ERA/2.83 FIP in 45.2 IP. To say that this is incredible would be a severe understatement. I mean, the man hadn't pitched in a MLB game since 2006, but of course he comes up with the Giants and is suddenly brilliant.

Anyway, the Rockies probably have the pitching advantage in this one, despite Vogelsong's recent results. Jason Hammel has quietly put together a very productive season for Colorado (1.1 fWAR so far), continuing his recent stretch of quietly productive seasons.
