Game 102: Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Micah Owings

You all know the drill by now. Colorado is going for a series victory in the rubber match of a three game series, but there's a pretty substantial obstacle in their way. This of course is that the Rockies are physically incapable of winning on Sundays -- have been since mid-April, 13 of them in a row. On the list of things that have made this season personally miserable for me (oh, and it is quite a litany), writing game wraps for each and every one of those losses is right at the top.

And yet...Colorado's got big bad Baldo, fueled by trade speculation rage, on the mound against a subpar pitcher in Micah Owings. I feel a glimmer of hope rising in my cold black soul. This will doubtless make the inevitable that much more painful. Oh well, 'tis better to have loved and lost...

Ubaldo Jimenez

#38 / Pitcher / Colorado Rockies

Jan 22, 1984

Micah Owings

#15 / Pitcher / Arizona Diamondbacks

Sep 28, 1982

In a season full of disappointment, a win in this game would be a moment to savor.
