Today is a big day for a lot of people. First and foremost, it's the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, which changed the course of this country. Secondly, it's the first Sunday of the NFL season, so couch potatoes like me will be immersed in pigskin goodness. However, that doesn't mean that the lion's share of my attention won't be on the major league debut of the crown jewel of the Ubaldo Jimenez trade, Drew Pomeranz.
Pomeranz will be going up against another guy who was a rookie phenom in Edinson Volquez. The game might not mean much in the context of the 2011 season, but there will be a plethora of young talent displayed this afternoon -- a preview of the near future for the Colorado Rockies.
