Does the "guaranteed encore" at most big shows now pretty much destroy the entire point of an encore? I mean really, it's great to hear more music by the band, but aren't encores supposed to be like "these fans won't leave until you play another song"?
It's kind of like a standing ovation - people stand and ovate after a dude hits a random home run. Jumping up and cheering is kind of different.
But when you have to wait all of 90 seconds for a band to come back out and play their best 2 or 3 songs, it kind of ruins the sentiment that the crowd REALLY loved the band so much that they refused to leave until the band played a couple more songs.
JUST MY THOUGHTS.
