Thursday Pebble Report: Guillermo Moscoso Does Tim Lincecum Impression

For some reason, I feel compelled to mention Seth Smith is hitting .364

Rain brings offense apparently.

AAA Colorado Springs - L 5-15, (3-4, 3rd, 2.5 GB)

Last night was a crazy game at Coors Field. The Rockies highest affiliate played a hauntingly similar game, but they were the victims of a mauling. Guillermo Moscoso (2012, trade) played the part of a completely ineffective Tim Lincecum. He gave up 8 runs (7 earned) last night on 12 hits and recorded just 7 outs. His ERA now sits at a cool 11.05. Zach Simons (2012, FA) allowed three runs and got five outs. Tacoma hung four two-out runs on Stephen Dodson (2008, 10th round) in the fifth, though an error by #20 PuRP Tommy Field (2008, 24th round) made them all unearned. Jared Wells (2012, FA) was flat out heroic, putting out the fire and working three clean innings.

Matt McBride (2011, trade) and DJ LeMahieu (2012, trade) had three hit games. The Sky Sox managed 12 hits, but only one - a double by Hernan Irribarren (2012, FA) - went for extra bases.

Low-A Asheville - W 10-6, (4-3, 2nd, 0.5 GB)

Every Tourist recorded a hit except Delta Cleary Jr (2008, 37th round), who walked and scored twice. Six Tourists had two knocks, led by HM PuRP Sam Mende (2011, 31st round), who homered and doubled, #12 PuRP Trevor Story (2011, sandwich) who doubled, and Jared Simon (2010, 6th round), who doubled and drove in three. Vianney Mayo (2007, VZ) was removed one out away from recording the win after allowing three runs. Geoff Parker (2010, 9th round) worked out of the jam and finished off two more perfect innings (aside from a solo homer) for the win.

AA Tulsa - Off Day, (4-2, 1st)

It was an off day for the entire Texas League yesterday, as the Drillers traveled from Corpus Christi to Tulsa. Their home opener will be tonight at 6:05 MDT against the San Antonio Missions (Padres) and Keyvius Sampson. Thanks to the tune-up start by Drew Pomeranz on Tuesday, the Drillers will send their #1 pitcher to the mound for the home opener in #13 PuRP Edwar Cabrera (2007, VZ). Make sure to follow @davidchood, who will be in attendance, for reactions to the tiny lefty strikeout machine.

High-A Modesto - Postponed, (1-5, 5th, 3.5 GB)

It rained in much of the country yesterday, and it resulted in a premature finish to the Nuts' opening homestand. They open their first road trip today in Stockton against the Ports at 8:05 MDT. I believe #27 PuRP Josh Slaats (2010, 5th round) is due to start.
