Jamie Moyer will get his third opportunity in a Rockies uniform to become the oldest pitcher in Major League history to win a game. His first two starts in Colorado have not been incredibly impressive, as the Rockies have lost to the Astros and Giants in both starts. And yet:
- Jamie Moyer's 2012 ERA (4.22) is lower than his career 688-game, 22-year careeer (4.24).
- Jamie Moyer leads the Rockies rotation in ERA, BB/9, K/BB and innings pitched per start.
With the Rockies facing the 3-8 Padres, who own MLB's worst record in spite of their victory at Coors Field last night, tonight may be the night for history. They face rookie Anthony Bass, who has 56.2 career innings and will be making his fifth career MLB start. Of course, it will be his third against the Rockies, and the first two didn't end well for the men in purple.

At least Bass isn't left-handed.
Chatwood Down, Escalona Up
With the bullpen getting taxed by a rotation ranked last in MLB in innings per start, the Rockies were forced to shuffle the deck. Tyler Chatwood, who has a 5.63 in 8.0 IP of relief with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk, will be going to AAA to be groomed as a starter. In his place, Edgmer Escalona will be in uniform today. He has a 1.71 ERA in 31.2 major league innings, had a 3.18 ERA in AAA Colorado Springs last season and has thrown five shutout innings in AAA this season.
Lineups after the jump. Yes, Cargo is back.
