Game 19: Chris Schwinden vs. Drew Pomeranz

The Rockies look to once again come up on the plus side of .500 tonight, this time against the ailing NY Mets and rookie Chris Schwinden, who is making his 2012 debut. Somehow someway the Mets have managed to go 11-8 so far thanks to some good hitting from everyone except Ike Davis and Lucas Duda -- seriously, look at this dichotomy.

Jon Sickels of Minor League Ball wrote about Schwinden, who I had never even heard of prior to this morning, last September. According to Sickels, Schwinden is the type of fifth starter/long reliever that an above average offense should have no trouble roughing up.

Meanwhile, Drew Pomeranz will be searching for his first win (and first start pitching into the 6th) of 2012. While the Mets offense has performed well so far this season, the Mets aren't a high talent offense. There's no reason that Pomeranz can't turn in a good outing in this one.

This is a winnable game in a winnable series for Colorado if they fancy themselves contenders.
