AAA Colorado Springs - W 5-2 (1-2, t-3rd, 1.0 GB)

The Sky Sox used a five run 8th inning to turn an 0-3 season start to the first victory of the season. #8 PuRP Tim Wheeler (2009, 1st round) hit a two-run double off Sam Demel and Matt McBride (2011, trade) followed two batters later with a three-run home run, one of his three hits on the night. Brandon Wood (2012, MiLB FA) started the rally against Joe Martinez with a pinch hit single. Zach Putnam (2012, trade) struck out three in two shutout innings for the save.

AA Tulsa - W 1-0 (2-1, 1st)

Parker Frazier (2007, 8th round), who really deserves more consideration this time around for the PuRPs list, made a very strong AA debut, scattering five singles and two walks in six shutout innings. The Drillers and San Antonio Missions both had six hits on the night, with Tulsa finally breaking through on the scoreboard in the ninth. After #22 PuRP Kent Matthes (2009, 4th round) reached on an error, #26 PuRP Ben Paulsen (2009, 3rd round) hit a pinch-hit opposite-field double to left to provide the only run. #2 PuRP Nolan Arenado (2009, 2nd round) and #9 PuRPJosh Rutledge (2010, 3rd round) both doubled and Joey Williamson (2007, 36th round) earned the victory with two dominant innings in relief.

High-A Modesto - W 4-2, (1-2, 4th, 1.0 GB)

#19 PuRP Corey Dickerson (2010, 8th round) has started well in answering questions about his ability to translate success away from Asheville. The outfielder hit two two-out RBI doubles, then singled and walked in his other two plate appearances. He has started the season 6-for-10. Dickerson also scored two runs, driven in both times by Chandler Laurent (2009, 21st round) on a single and sacrifice fly. Josh Mueller (2010, 13th round) was strong in his start, and Isaiah Froneberger (2007, 4th round) earned the win with three shutout innings.

Low-A Asheville - W 8-4, L 2-8 (1-2, t-4th, 1.5 GB)

Game 1: #28 PuRP David Kandilas (2009 Aus) hit a 2-run double, #12 PuRP Trevor Story (2011, sandwich) hit an RBI single and Delta Cleary, Jr. (2008, 37th round) drove in two with a single...all in a five-run fifth to give the Tourists their first win of the season. Jefri Hernandez (2008, DR) allowed two runs in two innings of relief to qualify for the win, and every member of the lineup recorded a base knock except Harold Riggins (2011, 7th round) and Ryan Casteel (2010, 17th round). #11 PuRP Rosell Herrera (2009 DR) singled in his first at-bat and was removed for a pinch-runner with an assumed injury.

Game 2: Geoff Parker (2010, 9th round) and Taylor Reid (2010, 14th round) struggled mightily on the mound, allowing five runs between them while recording six outs in the nightcap. Jared Simon (2010, 6th round) and Delta Cleary Jr. (2008, 37th round) had two hits in the game, as the Tourists were held to just six hits.
