2012 Rockies Game #23: Ted Lilly vs. Jhoulys Chacin

Take your lollipop and go away, Ted
Take your lollipop and go away, Ted

Ted Lilly owns the Rockies. No, really, he owns the Rockies. Purple Row has found the actual title that Theodore Roosevelt Lilly signed to take ownership of the Rocky Mountains. Teddy sure did love land out west.

On the baseball diamond, Lilly has very much tormented Colorado. His 8-2 record vs the Rockies represents the best winning percentage against any team in his career, and the eight W's are second to only the Padres as a career high. That 3.84 ERA is pretty good too over 12 starts. Check out these batting averages by Rockies against Lilly in their careers too:

Scutaro (.091), Fowler (.136), Tulowitzki (.154), Helton (.261), Cuddyer (.182), Giambi (.176), Young (.105).

Good and scared? Okay...forget all that. Because Carlos Gonzalez is 6-for-14 with 4 homers against Lilly, and Ramon Hernandez is 7-for-19 with two big blasts. Plus...this game is at Coors Field, where Lilly owns a 5.52 ERA. Plus, none of those career averages vs. Lilly mean anything. Except for the Venezuelans. Let's go with that.

The Rockies can win the series against their division leaders and jump back over .500. All that is required is scoring more runs than the men in grey and blue tonight.
