Christian Friedrich is back on the mound for the Colorado Rockies after winning his major league debut last Wednesday -- a 6-2 victory over the San Diego Padres. He struck out seven and allowed two runs over six innings for what is currently the Rockies' last victory ... then came a sweep at the arms and bats of the Los Angeles Dodgers or something or other over the weekend, I think.
And now it's a road contest against Ryan Vogelsong and the San Francisco Giants. Friedrich should listen to Brutus (from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, 4.3, 217-223):
There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.
Lineups after the jump.
