AAA Colorado Springs - L 3-9, (40-41, L1, 3rd, 7.0 GB)

Alex White's (2011, trade) return to AAA started off the wrong way. In the first five batters against a AAA Athletics lineup, White allowed a double, wild pitch, two walks and two singles. He would last 87 pitches and just 4 innings, allowing three runs. He did strike out five. A three run-fifth evened the game for the Sky Sox, but Dustin Molleken (2011, MiLB FA) allowed five runs in the seventh to put the game away. Chad Tracy (2012, trade) and Wilkin Castillo (2012, MiLB FA) had two hits for Colorado Springs.

AA Tulsa - L 4-5, (2-6, L5, 4th, 4.0 GB)

#29 PuRP Parker Frazier (2008, 7th round) was unable to work around ten hits in his six innings, partly due to four of them going for extra bases. The Missions scored five runs on George's son. #8 Josh Rutledge (2010, 3rd round), #14 PuRP Corey Dickerson (2010, 8th round) and #25 PuRP Kent Matthes (2009, 4th round) all doubled in the eighth inning to cut a three run deficit to one run, but in between were strikeouts of #1 PuRP Nolan Arenado (2009, 2nd round) and Ben Paulsen (2009, 3rd round). Dickerson also walked twice in the game, and Matthes drove home the other two Driller runs on a ground out and single. As this streaky team is wont to do, Tulsa has found itself in a pattern, losing five straight, scoring just 12 times in those five games.

High-A Modesto - W 11-5, (8-2, W1, 1st)

#12 PuRP Rafael Ortega (2008, VZ) went 3-for-3 with two walks, a home run and five runs batted in, as the little sparkplug continues to show the ability in recent weeks to really take over a game from the leadoff spot. Brett Tanos (2010, 10th round) drove in three runs and doubles, and Dallas Tarleton (2009, 20th round) doubled twice, singled and walked. All-Star Christian Bergman (2010, 24th round) worked around 8 singles and a triple to hold Bakersfield to two runs in six innings for the win. In a true banner moment, Modesto was able to prevent Billy Hamilton from stealing a base, as the speedster reached base one time - on a triple. Isaiah Froneberger (2007, 4th round) allowed three runs on three doubles and single in relief.

Low-A Asheville - W 13-8, (4-6, W2, 4th, 5.0 GB)

#13 PuRP Will Swanner (2010, 15th round) clubbed a grand slam and Jose Rivera (2009, 23rd round) poked a two-run homer, giving him longballs in consecutive games, in a 7-run seventh. #3 PuRP Trevor Story (2011, sandwich pick) singled and doubled, and #16 PuRP Rosell Herrera (2009, DR) singled twice, drove in two and walked. Brian Humphries (2011, 14th round) doubled, singled twice and scored three times out of the leadoff spot. Chris Jensen (2011, 6th round) battled control in walking five in 6.2 IP, allowing five runs. The Jensen/Swanner combo allowed four stolen bases in four attempts, including three by Delino DeShields Jr.

Short Season A Tri-City - L 1-6, (5-11, L1, 4th, 4.0 GB)

The Dust Devils managed just three singled all game, from Matt Argyropoulos (2011, 27th round), Francisco Sosa (2007, DR) and Michael Ramirez (2007, VZ). Ryan Arrowood allowed one run on four singles in four mostly solid innings (he threw four wild pitches), but reliever Taylor Reid continued to watch his 2012 season crumble by working a four run eighth inning. He has an 8.64 ERA in Tri City after posting a 10.71 in Asheville to start the season.

Rookie Grand Junction - W 9-6, (6-7, W1, 2nd, 4.0 GB)

In celebration of their first pro payday, David Dahl (2012, 1st round) tripled and Max White (2012, 2nd round) singled, walked twice and scored two runs. Jeffrey Popick (2012, 16th round) doubled twice and walked, Jason Stolz (2012, 17th round) doubled and singled and Matt Wessinger (2012, 5th round) drove home two. Julian Yan (2008, DR) joined the 2012 class in assaulting the Owlz, and Juan Ciriaco (2009, DR) doubled home two runs. A Wessinger error led to three unearned runs off Patrick Johnson (2011, 25th round) in the second, and Shawn Stuart (2012, 31st round) retured all seven men he faced in relief for his second pro win. The win snapped a three game losing streak for the Rockies.

DSL Rockies - W 8-3, (14-11, W1, t-2nd, 2.0 GB)

Jayson Aquino (2009, DR) had allowed just one earned run in his first four starts, then saw that number quadruple for the season in June's final day, inflating his ERA to 0.92. Then again, the lefty tossed a complete game, struck out eight and walked just one. He allowed eight hits, but seven were singles. Aquino led the DSL team in wins, complete games, ERA, starts, innings pitched, WHIP and strikeouts in 2011, and he's well on his way to repeating that feat. Miguel Dilone (2011, DR) doubled twice, Emerson Jimenez (2011, DR) doubled and singled twice and Wilson Soriano (2008, DR) reached base four times in the win over the Padres.
