- The Rockies will play the first game of a 3-game home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates...this series is the second 3-game set on Colorado's current 6-game homestand vs. PHI (1-2, 7/13-15) and PIT (7/16-18).
- The Rockies dropped the first series on this homestand 2-games-1 to Philadelphia.
- The Rockies took the first game of the series before dropping the last two to take the series loss
- The Rox lost yesterday's game 5-1, as Cole Hamels allowed just one run on 6 hits over 8.0 innings to earn the win over the Rockies
- Colorado comes into this series having lost four-straight three-game home series...following this series the Rockies will have an off day on Thursday, then travel to San Diego to begin a 6-game road trip at SD (7/20-22) and at ARI (7/23-25).
- Left-handed pitcher Jeff Francis will make his eighth start of 2012 tonight for Colorado...Francis is 2-1 with a 2.77 ERA (26.0 ip, 8 er), 3 walks and 16 strikeouts in his last five starts, since 6/21.
