Rockies 8, Brewers 6: Colorado Wins Series Over Brewers

For the second consecutive week, the Rockies have won a series without even requiring the third game to be played. Carlos Gonzalez had four singles and Eric Young Jr. continues to be a spectacular sparkplug this month, as the 2003 30th rounder doubled to lead off a 4-run first inning fell a triple shy of the cycle.

Tyler Chatwood followed up his five scoreless innings Saturday with arguably a better start. The right hander allowed just four hits in six efficient innings, getting touched up for a solo home run and an unearned run thanks to a Josh Rutledge error to lead off the third. Chatwood threw just 26 balls among his 77 pitches, lowering his season ERA to 4.28 and making a difficult decision for the Rockies brass going forward with Jhoulys Chacin's return pending.

Wilin Rosario and Jordan Pacheco both earned a walk and had two hits, with one coming as Rosario's 19th home run of the season.

Also of note today: Matt Reynolds faced Norichika Aoki in the eighth inning, getting the rookie to pop-out on his third pitch. He then left the game. The significance: that breaks a streak of 30 straight losses in games that Matt Reynolds has appeared in.

The Matt Reynolds curse had some fight before it went down though. Rex Brothers and Rafael Betancourt allowed five hits against the first six batters they faced in the ninth inning, cutting the lead from five to two runs. Betancourt got Rickie Weeks and Ryan Braun to fly out representing the go-ahead run to finish off the win. The Rockies go for the sweep tomorrow at 1:00 PM with Guillermo Moscoso facing Mark Rogers.
