Alex White had a breakthrough five and a third inning performance on his return to the Rockies rotation and Josh Rutledge homered for the fourth straight game, a key two run blast to put the Rockies securely ahead as the Rockies 2012 rookies took charge of the contest to break Colorado's most recent slump. Other 2012 rookies also played key roles in the game, Jordan Pacheco went three for three and Wilin Rosario came on to pinch hit in the eighth and hit his 17th home run of the season. Rex Brothers wound up picking up the win in relief of White with an inning and two thirds of scoreless pitching, including pitching out of a bases loaded, one out jam he inherited from White in the sixth.

That sixth inning was the only hiccup for White (well, more of a derailment,) who otherwise maintained effective command of his sinker in five scoreless frames before getting into trouble and giving up two runs in the sixth.

Tyler Colvin and Carlos Gonzalez also had two hits apiece for the Rockies.

The Bill Geivett era has started off pretty fabulously.
