Rockies 6, Giants 5: Shut The Hell Up, Rich Aurilia

Alex White once again battled with questionable efficiency, going 4 innings with 2 strikeouts, 6 hits, and no baserunners, allowing a mere solo shot to - you guessed it - Hunter Pence. He also told everyone to suc kiss his a eat his shorts by burying a homer into the LF/CF tunnel. It wasn't a bad outing. We'd still like about 8 more strikes/fewer balls and possibly another inning of work out of him, but I suppose this outing at Coors Field should be construed as baby steps.

The Rockies staked the bullpen to a 6-2 lead by the beginning of the 7th inning, but Rex Brothers had one of "those" nights that involved a Buster Posey homer. Matt Belisle was off of his game as well, but managed to escape the 8th with a 6-5 lead. Rafael Betancourt was perfect for his 28th save of the season (reinforcing that the Rockies have won at least 28 games this year) with 2 strikeouts, including a big swinging K by Brandon Belt to end the game.

It was a good game of based ball, despite some umpire incompetence and questionable bullpen work, but the bats did their jobs well enough and the Rockies came out on top.

The bonus hilarity came during the 8th inning, when former Giant Great (TM) Rich Aurilia sent out the following wine-soaked tweet:

Seriously, like the pith ing scheme or not, shut the hell up, Rich Aurilia. You know, all in good fun.
