2012 Rockies Game #154: Chris Rusin vs. Jorge de la Rosa

The Rockies open up a critical late season series against the Cubs with their respective futures on the line.

As you no doubt have read from Bryan Kilpatrick already, this series is absolutely critical. With nine games left to play, the Rockies and Cubs are deadlocked for a tie for the second worst record in 2012. Both teams were eliminated from contention for the top spot yesterday. Cleveland and Minnesota are within reach.

This really could be a big deal. The Rockies have selected in the top six just once, and that was Greg Reynolds (#2) in 2006. Imagine if they had tanked a little less in 2005 and ended up with Evan Longoria instead?! At any rate, count on this series being cited when these two teams find themselves in the draft room in June.

Jorge de la Rosa gets his second start of the season, and he will face Chris Rusin, who I'm pretty sure does not exist. If he did exist, I'm sure he'd throw a high-80's fastball and little else.
