Today the Rockies take on a Cincinnati Reds split squad lineup at Salt River Fields. According to a Troy Renck tweet, the Rockies plan to have the following pitchers work: Juan Nicasio, Jeff Francis, Matt Belisle, Erick Threets, Logan Kensing, and Rafael Betancourt. I'm hoping to see a better outing from Nicasio, who gave up four hits and four runs (only one earned) in 1.2 innings in his spring debut.
Get a gander of the Lineup here. If you're not the type to click on links, though, here it is:
1. Young (2B)
2. Fowler (CF)
3. Pacheco (DH)
4. Cuddyer (RF)
5. Arenado (3B)
6. Hernandez (C)
7. Wrigley (1B)
8. LeMahieu (SS)
9. McBride (LF)
Initial thoughts: Ooh, Nolan Arenado batting 5th! Second thoughts: Eh, pretty weak lineup today; no Tulo, Todd, or Cargo. Third thoughts: DJ Lemahieu at short stop?
Aroldis Chapman gets the start today for the Reds, so maybe that's why the big hitters are taking it easy today. Triple digit fastballs from the left side are no fun, especially when you're still shaking off the off-season rust.
The game is at 1:10 Mountain; MLB Game Day link is here. Let's go Rockies.
