Game Wrap: Rockies 10, Padres 4 Helton, Rosario Power Rox

Helton and Rosario help power the Colorado Rockies past the San Diego Padres.

Doug Pensinger

Todd Helton hit his 2nd home run of Spring Training to center in the 1st inning. Not to be outdone, the Baby Bull continued his charge giving the Rockies back-to-back HRs in the 1st. Also of note in the category of hitting home runs, Josh Rutledge hit his 1st of the spring which is encouraging since he had cooled off lately.

Jeff Manship went 3 innings and gave up 2 ER, striking out 3. Jhoulys Chacin relieved him for 2 innings and gave up 2 HRs, which is either concerning or proof that he shouldn't be coming out of the bullpen.

Lopez, Corpas, and Scahill all pitched clean innings. Scahill gave up 3 hits in 2 innings but also struck out 3.

The Denver Post reports that many "on the bubble" players could learn their fate in the next day or so. So get in all the Nolan Arenado debating you can before the decision becomes official.

Nice to see the Toddfather still has some pop. Would like to see Chacin sharpen up. Rosario is looking like a legitimate 5 hole hitter, taking some right handers deep and keeping the average high at .361.

Throw another chip in the "Rockies might not be terrible!" pile.
