It was a veritable hit parade tonight for the Rockies, who abused Cleveland pitching to the tune of 26 hits (in 8 innings no less) in a 18-4 victory that brought Colorado's record in Cactus League play to 15-12.
Wilin Rosario, Todd Helton, and Josh Rutledge each had four hits, Dexter Fowler and Chris Nelson had three, and Michael Cuddyer and Charlie Blackmon added two each. Cuddyer and Nelson both homered, Blackmon tripled, and Blackmon had two doubles - part of Colorado's eight extra base hits on the night. If only they could have saved some of that offense for the regular season...
On the mound, Jeff Francis lasted five innings, allowing three runs on nine hits to improve to 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA in Cactus League play. The bullpen combined to throw four innings of one run, five strikeout relief.
Colorado is down to its last three games in Arizona and the very least they'll have to show for it is a .500 record.
