The Rockies face the A's today at 2:05 MT in Phoenix at Municipal Stadium

Justin Edmonds

Jhoulys Chacin takes the mound today for the Rockies in what will be one of his final tune-ups before his opening day start April 1st. Chacin had back spasms that caused him to miss a start last week. The Rockies will need him to stay healthy this year to have any chance at making a run.

The roster is nearly finalized, but a few questions still remain. Chris Nelson gets the start at 3rd as he continues to battle Nolan Arenado for the opening day job. Ramon Hernandez is starting at DH, but the Rockies appear to favor Yorvit Torrealba as the backup over Hernandez. Hernandez is known to be in trade rumors and if the Rockies can find a trade partner it's likely he will be dealt.

For the Athletics, Jarrod Parker will start. Parker, a 24 year old righty, pitched extremely well for the A's en route to a postseason berth. The A's lineup looks similar to what their opening day lineup could look like so it should be a good test for Chacin.
