Six years can sometimes seem like a lifetime in the baseball world. Six years ago, the first player I had every really paid attention to in the minor league system was on his way up- a third baseman who could absolutely rake. Our best starting pitcher was a lanky British Columbian who looked like he was about 12 years old. Six years ago, Manny Corpas won the role of closer after the All-Star break. The rest, as they say, is history
Six years later, and the most exciting thing this spring has been watching the performance of a very exciting third base prospect. I have recovered from the heartbreak of watching Ian Stewart not live up to his potential. Six years later, and our pitching hopes once again lay in this Canadian lefty.
Today's game against the Cubs will see Francis starting on the mound. Manny Corpas is scheduled to pitch, along with Rex Brothers and Danny Rosenbaum.
The game time is 1:10 PM MST. Go Rockies!
