Game 39: Jeff Francis vs. Carlos Villanueva

After an ugly 9-1 loss at Wrigley Field last night, the Colorado Rockies will look to even the series with the Chicago Cubs tonight.

To that end, the Rockies will turn to lefty Jeff Francis on the mound. Francis has struggled so far in 2013, compiling a 6.90 ERA to go with a 1-3 record. The team hasn't won a game Francis has started since April 16.

He will be opposed by Chicago's Carlos Villanueva. The 29-year-old started his first season with the Cubs quite well, with a 1.53 ERA in his first four starts, but he has struggled in his last three outings, posting a 5.40 ERA in 18 1/3 innings to raise his season ERA to 3.02. The Cubs have lost each of Villanueva's previous three starts.

Dexter Fowler returns to the Rockies lineup after his day off yesterday, with Eric Young Jr. moving to right field and Charlie Blackmon on the bench for the first time since his call up Sunday.

The Cubs replace one Rockie killer, Nate Scherholz, in right field with another in Scott Hairston.
