Jhoulys Chacin will return from the disabled list to pitch in today's rubber match against the Tampa Bay Rays. In the four games he has pitched this season, he has allowed only 16 hits and four runs, which is good for a 3-0 record and a 318 ERA+.
From the Denver Post, Chacin is feeling good and is ready to go:
"I feel really good, really strong. I don't have any problems with my back now. I've been doing extra stretching and working to keep it strong."
Today will also see a return of Todd Helton to the lineup.
NL West Watch: The Rockies are currently tied for first place, a spot they have either been tied for or held sole posession of since April 16th. At one point, they were as many as 2.5 games ahead of the San Francisco Giants. If the Rockies lose today, they risk giving up possession of this roost to the Giants. Over the course of a season a win today to hold that top spot isn't actually a big deal. It sure would feel good though.
