Jorge De La Rosa threw perhaps his best game of the season, shutting out the New York Yankees over six innings, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out a pair and Carlos Gonzalez provided the offense with a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Rockies a 2-0 win.

The key for De La Rosa was getting ground ball outs, of which he had 11 in the game. Matt Belisle, Rex Brothers and Rafael Betancourt each threw out a scoreless inning to preserve De La Rosa's win and the shutout.

Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda pitched well himself, allowing just two runs on seven hits in seven innings with a walk and three strikeouts.

Each team had a couple of minor threats to score early, and the game looked like it would be scoreless through six innings before Josh Rutledge's two-out single, one of his three hits on the day, brought Gonzalez to the plate. Gonzalez then proceeded to drive Kuroda's 3-2 pitch into the Rockies bullpen for his seventh home run of the season, giving the Rockies a 2-0 lead.

Matt Belisle entered the game and walked Brett Gardner to lead off the seventh, but erased him on Chris Nelson's double play later in the inning. Rex Brothers pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning to get the ball to Betancourt, who gave up an infield single before closing the game out for his ninth save of the season.

Troy Tulowitzki missed the game with leg soreness, but Jonathan Herrera went 2-for-3 with the only other extra-base hit of the game, a third inning double, and some fine work in the field.

The win moves the Rockies to 19-13, and with the Phillies defeating the Giants by a score of 6-2 for the second straight night, the Rockies re-take first place in the NL West.

The Rockies will look for the series win tomorrow night as Juan Nicasio takes the hill against the Yankees' David Phelps.
