Game 33: David Phelps vs. Juan Nicasio

Which pitcher fails first?

USA TODAY Sports

Game two of the Rockies/Yankees series is tonight, with Juan Nicasio seekting to confirm his manager's faith in him (instead of Tyler Chatwood) by pitching more efficiently and avoiding the big inning. His 3-0 record is deceiving as he has pitched some short games recently and been given good run support.

Countering for the Yankees is David Phelps, who brings his early season struggles (5.56 ERA) into Coors Field to face the home run happy, and Tulo-less, Rockies lineup. The Yankees lineup is banged up as well and former Rockie Chris Nelso will again be their starting third baseman. It could be a repeat of last night's 2-0 pitcher's duel and whichever starter wilts first may end up getting his team the loss. Lineups are:

Yankees:

1. Brett Gardner (L) CF

2. Robinson Cano (L) 2B

3. Vernon Wells (R) LF

4. Lyle Overbay (L) 1B

5. Ichiro Suzuki (L) RF

6. Jayson Nix (R) SS

7. Chris Nelson (R) 3B

8. David Phelps (R) P

9. Austin Romine (R) C

Rockies:

1. Dexter Fowler (S) CF

2. Josh Rutledge (R) 2B

3. Carlos Gonzalez (L) LF

4. Michael Cuddyer (R) RF

5. Wilin Rosario (R) C

6. Todd Helton (L) 1B

7. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B

8. Reid Brignac (L) SS

9. Juan Nicasio (R) P

As always, GO ROCKIES!
