Game #73 preview: Juan Nicasio vs. Mark Buehrle

Nicasio looks to further cement his place in the rotation while the Rockies seek to avoid the sweep North of the border.

Tom Szczerbowski

Juan Nicasio has shown streaks fo brilliance and lots of mediocrity so far this year for the Colorado Rockies. With Roy Oswalt joining the team tomorrow and Drew Pomeranz waiting in the wings, Juan needs to turn potential into results before the all-star break.

Pitching against the Rockies tonight will be Mark Buehrle who has had recent success after starting off the season with some pretty horrible outings. Which pitcher wilts first will likely determine the winner in this game.

Rockies Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer have both hit well against Buehrle in the past. Cargo has gotten five hits in eight at bats against the lefty but only one extra base hit (triple). Cuddy, meanwhile, faced him several times in the American league and owns a .318/.351/.505 avg/obp/slg line against him in 107 at bats. Continued success will help the Rockies bats out of their two game road slump and give the team a chance to victory.
