Game 61 Preview: Andrew Cashner vs. Jhoulys Chacin

Chacin, who has dominated the Padres offense so far this year, will take on Andrew Cashner and the San Diego Padres. The Padres are still seeking their first win of the year against Colorado as they visit the Rockies for game one of a four game set at Coors Field.

The Rockies will send out Jhoulys Chacin (3-3) tonight, in the first game of a four game set in San Diego against their divisional rivals. Chacin's season has been plagued with injury and inconsistency, but he has been very successful on the road: he owns a 2.66 ERA on the road, versus a 5.26 ERA at home. Chacin has faced the San Diego Padres twice this season, and in those starts has combined to pitch 11.2 innings, allowing three runs on 10 hits and two walks.

The Padres will counter with Andrew Cashner (4-3). This is only his 15th start of his MLB career but it is his 9th start of the year for the Padres. This year he has not allowed more than four runs in a game. Especially given last night's game, the Rockies could take advantage of Cashner's recent propensity to allow flyballs; he allowed three home runs in his previous game, facing the mariners.

The Rockies have swept the season series against San Diego so far, outscoring their divisional foes 38-17. However, This game will mark the first time that the Rockies have faced the Padres since Chase Headley's return from the disabled list. Given that the Rockies are facing a team that is five games below .500 when the season is just over a third of the way through, the Rockies should hope for at least a series win.
