Rockies to activate Dexter Fowler, option Corey Dickerson to Triple-A

The Colorado Rockies will activate outfielder Dexter Fowler from the 15-day disabled list prior to their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post. Colorado is expected to option Corey Dickerson to Triple-A Colorado Springs in a corresponding move.

Fowler has been out of action since June 25 with a wrist injury and before that, suffered through a 4-for-23 stretch after being hit in the hand by a pitch against the Washington Nationals on June 13. Even with the rough stretch factored in, Fowler is hitting .291/.390/.473 with 10 home runs. He has been sorely missed at the top of the Rockies' lineup, a spot that has been occupied by lesser hitters such as Dickerson, Charlie Blackmon and DJ LeMahieu in Fowler's absence.

Dickerson hit .212/.308/.333 in 39 plate apperances during his first big-league callup, while spending time in all three outfield positions. He'll return to the level in which he hit .386/.429/.646 this season prior to his promotion.

Troy Tulowitzki will be, in essence, a game-time decision. He'll likely be activated, but needs to be evaluated by the Rockies' training staff first. If Tulo is deemed ready to play, Josh Rutledge will likely be the roster victim, per Renck.
