The Rockies continue to give up the big inning in Atlanta and the trend of the third and fourth innings being the bad innings continued Wednesday night. Tyler Chatwood struggled in the first inning, giving up one unearned run due to an error by Charlie Culberson. He then came unglued in the third, facing the entire Braves lineup and gave up seven runs while only getting one out.
The Rockies offense was typically anemic against left-handed starter Mike Minor. Dexter Fowler started the game off with a single but was thrown out after trying to slide half way to second on a steal attempt. Minor dominated the Rox from then on, not giving up another base runner until a Nolan Arenado two out single in the fifth. Overall Minor pitched 7 innings, striking out 6 with 2 hits and 0 walks.
Carlos Gonzalez came out of the game again after his first at bat. With the team dropping quickly, it may make sense for him to take time to get his finger healed all the way.
Here are the numbers:
Record: 51-58 (5-8 in second half)
