Chad Bettis will shoot for his first major league win in his fourth start at the level when he faces Bud Norris and the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Bettis' last outing -- his first at Coors Field -- was the best of his brief big-league career. He held the Pittsburgh Pirates to two runs on four hits in six innings of work in a no-decision. His two road starts -- both in pretty good pitcher's environments -- were much less successful. He needs to do a better job of limiting walks; the Texas Tech alum has surrendered eight free passes and struck out just six batters in 16 innings.
Norris has been pretty good since joining the Orioles after the non-waiver trade deadline. He owns a 3.12 ERA in three starts and one relief appearance. Norris' only loss since the trade came in said relief appearance when he allowed the Arizona Diamondbacks to walk off with a win in the bottom of the 14th inning on Wednesday.
