MLB Scores: Rockies 4, Marlins 3

Jorge De la Rosa picked up his 14th win of the season thanks to Nolan Arenado's go ahead double in the sixth. Arenado's clutch offense and always great defense were huge factors in the win.

Jorge De la Rosa worked five innings allowing three runs on five hits and three walks. It wasn't his best or most efficient outing by any stretch, but it was just enough for him to pick up win number 14 on the year.

The Rockies bats got to Marlins starter Jacob Turner early on. In the second inning the Rockies jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Michael Cuddyer lead off the frame with a walk before Nolan Arenado singled, after a wild pitch the Rockies had runners on 2nd and 3rd. Ryan Wheeler brought home the first run with an RBI single to left. Arenado scored on a Jordan Pacheco line out coupled with an error on Marlins  second baseman Donavan Solano, Jonathan Herrera's sacrifice fly ended the scoring.

The Marlins responded in the bottom half of the inning when Justin Ruggiano went deep for his 15th home run. The Marlins got two more in the fourth with RBI singles from Logan Morrison and Ruggiano. The bases were loaded in the second with nobody out, but De la Rosa stood firm after inducing a weak grounder to third that started a 5-2-3 double play. De la Rosa then struck out Turner to end the threat.

Arendao proved clutch once again with a two out go ahead RBI double in the sixth inning that went the left field corner allowing Cuddyer to score all the way from first. It was a great all around game for Arenado, who made a beautiful leaping throw in the first for the second out of the game to go along with starting the double play that allowed De La Rosa to work out of his second inning jam. His effort from the plate was critical as well as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

The bullpen was also key in the win. Five relievers combined to shut out the Marlins for the final four innings with Rex Brothers picking up his 13th save.

The Rockies finished the road trip 4-6 and won their first road series since early July, Up next, the Rockies have a nine game home stand with three against the Giants starting at 6:40 MT tomorrow night.
